Get ready for the 2019 Laredo Environmental Summit as it will take place on Wednesday, October 1, 2019 at Texas A&M International University's Student Center Ballroom from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (Registration and continental breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m.). The Laredo Environmental Summit (LES) is the first of its kind to be created and implemented in Laredo, TX, and it is opened to the general public in all cities from Webb County. The LES is under the leadership of State Senator, Judith Zaffirini, in partnership with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, City of Laredo, Webb County, and a host of other organizations. The LES focuses in promoting environmental awareness, sustainability of natural resources, and community involvement.
Objectives
Bring together local and state stakeholders to identify environmental problems
Collaborate finding sustainable solutions to Laredo's environmental challenges
Create a venue where elected officials can work together with the community of Laredo and residents of Webb county to address urgent environmental issues
Educate local students (at all levels) about the environmental issues that exist in our community and instill environmental stewardship in them
Encourage all citizens, elected officials, business sectors, and grassroots leaders in getting involved to help make a difference in our environment
